'Kathryn Bigelow' 18-inch Original Wood & Clay Carving

$4,800.00

This is a wood and clay sculpture hand-carved by Mike in 2016 as part of his “King Cuts” series. The statue depicts the film director Kathryn Bigelow - of Point Break and Zero Dark Thirty fame - as the Oscar award, in honor of her being the first female film director to win. Mike carved this piece in Western Red Cedar and sculpted polymer clay details onto the assembly, then hand-painted the finish with enamel and acrylic. This piece stands 18 inches tall, 4 inches wide, 6 inches deep.

Included with this purchase is the wall frame photographed here, custom built by Mike in solid pine and fir, with a custom steel title plaque. This frame measures 24 inches tall, 16 inches wide, 8 inches deep.

Kathryn Bigelow is the Oscar. She is the only female of many regards. Fortunately she's safely cacooned in a Point Break surfboard. Carrying the Zero Dark Thirty gun that killed Bin Laden might also help. She protects herself on all fronts. Even her Hurt Locker bomb suit insulates her from the masculinity surrounding her on all sides.
