'Dalai Lama' 18-inch Reclaimed Ocean Plastic Statue

$4,200.00

This is an 18-inch tall statue depicting the Dalai Lama. A tangent to the “Trash Talking” series, this piece is 3D-printed with 100% pure reclaimed ocean plastic, with hand-finished and hand-painted details by Mike.

Mike originally sculpted this piece as a 6-inch tall polymer clay prototype to be mass produced. He used the high resolution 3D-scan of the small clay sculpture to make a 3D-model and have this 18-inch tall version printed by a plastics company based in Europe. Mike then sanded and polished the raw 3D-print before finishing the skin, jewelry, robe and shoes with acrylic paint.

The idea here is to provide one very small, modest model for repurposing - if we can’t stop readily dumping it in the ocean - the seemingly endless supply of microplastics floating in our oceans.

Included with this purchase is the white-finished 6 x 6 x 2 inch wood wall shelf with metal title plaque pictured here.

This piece measures 18 x 6 x 5 inches (46 x 15 x 13 cm).
