'Landobama' 18-inch Original Wood & Clay Carving

$2,800.00

This one-off polymer clay sculpture was hand-carved by Mike in 2013 as part of his “Empire Peaks“ series of Star Wars mash-ups, depicting Barack Obama as Lando Calrissian.

This piece stands 18 inches tall, 8 inches wide, 4 inches deep and features 5 articulating parts, along with miniature details hand-painted by Mike in acrylic.

Also featured are Mike’s hand sculpted, removable accessories - a wood & clay health care staff of Asclepius, along with Mike’s replica of the automatic Bushmaster 223 Adam Lanza used in the Newtown shooting.

Included with this purchase is the white-painted, wood tabletop base, 18 x 18 x 4 inches in dimension, hand-made by Mike, and photographed here.

See all photos for miniature details and Mike’s preparatory drawing he used to design and sculpt this piece.

The story goes…

“We Can Pay a Successful Yes Price”

Lando plays the token racial role of a non-integrated world of many races and species. He starts off as a good politician, turns bad, then redeems himself in the end. We hope Obama turns in the same direction. Like Lando, Obama embodies a complicated set of ideals. As a nuanced pro-gun-control statement to his constituents, Obama wields the exact Bushmaster 223 used by Adam Lanza in the Newtown shootings. He demonstrates the fear that the weapon's strikes in its victims. Obama also holds The Rod of Asclepius, the Greek god of Obama's signature domestic achievement for human rights.
